BIDMC MICU Blue

BIDMC MICU Blue

Our fellows rotate through the BIDMC MICU Blue in the second year of training. As an institution, BIDMC is a national leader in both critical care quality and critical care clinical research, and fellows benefit from related local expertise in ARDS management and post-cardiac arrest care in particular.

BIDMC MICU Blue is an 8-bed unit staffed by a team of 3 residents and led by the second year fellow. Fellows rotate here twice in the second year, where they have the unique opportunity to serve as the primary team leader, responsible for leading rounds and supervising all aspects of patient care and education. While a teaching attending is present and available, their focus is primarily on providing support, observation, and feedback to the fellow. Fellows also participate in weekly ultrasound rounds, bimonthly critical care M&M conference, and are the primary learners in a bimonthly advanced critical care concepts teaching session led by the Division Chief for fellows rotating at BIDMC.
