BIDMC MICU Blue

BIDMC MICU Blue

The MICU Blue rotation is a capstone rotation for our second-year clinical fellows. As an institution, BIDMC is a national leader in critical care quality, critical care clinical research, and critical care education. Fellows benefit from related local expertise in ARDS management and post-cardiac arrest care, in particular.

BIDMC MICU Blue is an 8-bed unit staffed by a team of 3 residents and led by the second-year fellow. Fellows rotate here twice in the second year, where they have the unique opportunity to serve as the primary team leader, responsible for leading rounds and supervising all aspects of patient care and education. While a teaching attending is present and available, their focus is primarily on providing support, observation, and feedback to the fellow. Fellows also participate in weekly ultrasound rounds, bimonthly critical care M&M conference, and a bi-monthly advanced critical care concepts teaching session led by the Division Chief for fellows rotating at BIDMC.
