Basic and Translational Research

A core strength of our fellowship is the opportunity for fellows to participate in the world-class research being performed at MGH and BIDMC. Fellows choosing basic or translational research as part of the investigation pathway have a wide array of possible mentors both within and outside of the pulmonary and critical care divisions. Projects range from basic investigation of immunology, fibrosis, metabolism and regeneration/stem cell biology to more translational projects with direct clinical relevance in the areas of advanced imaging or cutting-edge ‘omics’ approaches. Research projects are tailored to provide the fellow with outstanding scientific training and the opportunity to become a leader in his or her chosen field. Current division faculty and recent fellow mentors include:
